The GIA 522 gas inclusion analysis system was developed to analyse small to extremely small gas inclusions in technical glasses, ceramics, minerals or small hermetically sealed electronic components.

The samples are pierced with a metal needle in a gold plated stainless steel chamber under ultra high vacuum conditions. The gas captured in the inclusion expands as it passes through a transfer line into the measurement chamber. The analyser has a detection limit of better than 10 ppb. Thus, the GIA 522 performs reliable measurements on smallest bubbles and for gas amounts as small as a few pico litres.

The GIA 522 is a completely automated gas analysis system. InProcess Software controls the whole measuring process, instrument calibration, data acquisition and data evaluation. An additional special software tool for data analysis evaluates the measurement results and controls data exchange with the customer specific database.
